Pass Your Road Test, A student driver passing her road test on her first try-Fuzion Driving School

Passing The Road Test Is Very Easy If You Know How To Drive And You Follow The Steps Below

STEP #1

Adjust Your Seat  The first and the most important thing to do on the day of your road test is to make sure that you are comfortably seated in the car and at a proper distance from the break and gas pedals.

So, after you have entered your vehicle and closed the door behind you, the next step is to place your foot over the break pedal and adjust your seat so that you can apply breaks without feeling any tension or discomfort in your foot.

STEP #2

Adjust Your Mirrors  Observation is a key part of safe driving.  Having your mirrors properly adjusted will help with proper observation.  So the second thing to do is to adjust your mirrors.

STEP #3

Put On Your Seat Belt  The third thing to do is to buckle up.  Some inspector may remind you to buckle up, others could fail you for driving without a seat belt.

Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to tell the inspector to put on his/her seat belt.

STEP #4

Start Your Car:  After you have gotten yourself ready, the inspector will tell you to pull out when it is safe to do so.  Don't forget this fourth and most important step which is to start the car.

I witnessed a young man failing his road test without even leaving from the curb.  You see, after he was told to go, the first thing he did was to shift into drive (back then, you could change gear before starting your car).

After he got the car into drive, he applied the gas to go but nothing happened because the car was off. Realizing that he had not started the vehicle, he tried to start the car.

What do you think happened next?  Well, nothing; the car does not start in the drive gear because the starter does not function in the drive gear.  It starts only in Park and Neutral.  This young prospective driver did not know this because the person responsible for teaching him this, never taught him.

Upon realizing that the young applicant was not able to even get started, the inspector had no choice but to fail him.

STEP #5

Shift Your Car Into The Drive Gear:  Step #5 is to shift into drive.  I witnessed another applicant failing because he forgot to put his car into the drive gear.

He got as far as starting the vehicle, but and I am guessing here, he became so nervous that he forgot to shift from park into drive.  He applied the gas three time and was about to do so a fourth time when the inspector stopped him and gave him his walking papers.

STEP #6

Signal Your Intent To Leave The Curb:  Step #6 is to signal left.  You want to notify others that you are about to leave the curb.  Leaving the curb without proper signaling can result in you gaining penalty points or even causing an accident.

Get more than 30 penalty points and you fail.

STEP #7

Turn Your Wheel To The Left One Revolution:  The order in which you do Step #7 is very critical to passing your road test.  Mess this up and you could fail.  A young applicant at the Red Hook road test site was in the process of doing his road test.

So he started the car, put it in drive, checked his mirror and blind spot and upon realizing it was safe to go, he proceeded to turn his wheel to go.  Now while he was busy getting the wheel set to go, a car was approaching.

He did not look again to see if it was safe to go because moments ago when he checked it was safe.  He was about to leave the curb when the inspector applied breaks to avoid the impending collision.  He too failed his road test.

STEP #8

Look In Your Left Side View Mirror:  Step #8 is to look in your left side view mirror to see if it is safe to leave the curb.  Leaving the curb without proper observation can reult in an accident and you failing your road test.

In addition improper observation can result in you gaining 10 penalty points.

STEP #9

Look In Your Left Blind Spot:  Step #9 is to check your blind spot.  Looking into the mirror alone is not enough because you are not able to see your blind spot by just checking your mirror.

I have seen many applicants try to leave the curb without checking their blind spot and almost got into accidents.  Fortunately,  the inspector was able to take control of the vehicle and avoid the accident.

So to recap: after getting yourself set, you must follow this sequence G, S, W, L, L then go.  That is Gear, Signal, Wheel (get your vehicle set before looking) Look in mirror, Look in Blind Spot (look last because when it is safe to go, you have to be able to go.

If you do the above incorrectly you will gain these penalty points: improper gear (10 penalty points). improper signal (10 points). improper wheel or poor steering control (15 points), inadequate observation or failed to look (10 points), failed to check or look in your blind spot (5 points).  A total of 50 points resulting in you failing your road test.

BONUS STEP #10

Sign Up For Our Next 5 Hour Class And Save $5:  Because when you do, you will learn these 9 important steps and many more: like how to make right and left turn safely so you don't gain points for turning to wide (5 points), too short (5 points) or poor steering control (15 points).

You see, your goal is to avoid penalty points.  The DMV spots you 30 points.  You are allowed up to 30 penalty points and still pass.  So 30 points or less and you have a license but 35 points or more, you FAIL.

This is one of the many reasons why, people who know how to drive fail.  They gain too many penalty points.  Our goal during our 5 hour class is to teach you how to become safe drivers so you avoid points and get your driver's license.  Many of our students get zero points on their test and many pass on their first try with us.
